Endlich! Ich wurde schon oft nach diesem Oracle Feature für PHP gefragt. Bisher musste ich aber immer Antworten mit: "Gibt es nicht für PHP!". Ab Oracle 11g soll Connection Pooling nun möglich sein. Allerdings ist das notwendige Oracle Call Interface (OCI8) ab Version 1.3 noch eine Beta Version. Und die meisten Firmen setzen momentan noch auf ältere Oracle Versionen. Somit wird dieses Feature in produktiven Systemen vorerst wohl nicht eingesetzt.

Weitere Neuerungen die Oracle 11g für PHP bringt:

• Client Query Result Cache
• Client Side Caching
• High Availability - Fast Application Notification of Events
• Geplant für eine spätere OCI8 Version ist auch ein "Runtime Connection Load Balancing"
